Canaletto walnut never goes out of style.

casa 04.23 was designed for a young and energetic married couple.

Although located very close to the city center of Catanzaro Lido, it is a rare private villa that allows the house to be surrounded by a garden and many orange trees — one of which was carefully framed by the kitchen window to let the seasons unfold naturally. A scene available all year round.

The design process began with the desire to create a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere, where the kitchen would play a central role — without becoming the sole hub of the living space. This intention materialized in Canaletto walnut veneered paneling, welcoming the couple and their guests. The contrast with the light wooden floor is emphasized and visually interrupted by a brushed brass cladding, which subtly separates the living and dining areas from the kitchen.

Three doors are hidden within the paneling: two for the entrance wardrobe and one that leads to the guest bathroom with a shower and to the home office. This layout provides privacy and space for guests while allowing the homeowners to fully enjoy the open living area.

The walnut paneling seamlessly transitions into the kitchen, housing a built-in fridge, a 110 cm-wide pantry cabinet, and a column with an oven. At the center, an unconventional large island is clad in Capraia Viola marble, angled at 45 degrees down to the floor. Along one wall, a horizontal window runs between the upper cabinets and base units, while to the right, a 2.5-meter sliding glass door opens onto the garden and the back of the house (currently under construction).

A staircase in Porto Oro marble leads to the upper level, where two bathrooms with showers — one en suite — a kids’ bedroom, and a master bedroom with walk-in closet are located.
